Best Foot Forward (2)

I’ve been accused once or twice of having a foot fetish.

Gymnasts and acrobats will generally choose to train barefoot, and on my first introduction to the training cabin which Dave and his brother Pete set up at the top of their yard I was presented with a footbath and given a small lecture on foot hygeine. Since our recreational wrestling style is barefoot too, and they frequently get thrust in your face, the hygeine habit kind of sticks!

I find that I take a peculiar interest in the appearance of feet, preferring fairly fleshy and soft-soled ones (Dave) to those showing prominent tendons (Ethan). Maybe that sounds weird, but Dave and I (and the others too) tend to get to sucking toes once in a while, usually when we’re feeling a bit horny. A gay thing, perhaps. Perhaps not. But probably!

Waking up with Dave’s beautiful fresh feet next to my face (yeah, he twists around a lot in bed) is a wonderful start to the day, and yes, the tongue quickly gets to work.

The more athletic amongst us can tuck their feet neatly behind their head:

…and, of course, bare feet are essential for stamping around on broken glass, firewalking, sword ladders, and all the other daft things we throw into our circus and cabaret performances from time to time:

No, its not as dangerous as it looks. Especially for Zach, who seems to have spent most of his life barefoot and consequently has remarkably tough soles. But still worth a lick from time to time.

So, consequently, this little celebration of barefoot boys.

OK, this post is a bit of a drivel I guess. But once in a while I hope that’s OK. I’ll get back to ‘normal service’ next time. Might even talk about those bloody books again…

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Currently finishing off our 'story', after we got a publisher interested: that's the story of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow) - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones! Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. And now Volume 1 is out - and effectively outing US - the really scary bit will be if anyone actually buys one and reads it...
