Barefoot Guys Have All the Fun…

An interesting correspondence has developed between me and an acrobatics enthusiast in Berlin. Let’s call him ‘M’ since he chooses to use e-mail rather this more public forum to ‘chat’ to me.

We seem to have several things in common – a love of acrobatics for a start, inspired by seeing circus performers at a young age. Wanting to be one. And also strangely aroused by the partner work between muscular guys showing off their bodies and the skills they have trained them for. Feelings that I didn’t understand at all for many years – not properly until I met Dave. Then the gay thing that was always meant to be, took off… and the acrobatics too!

‘Skin on skin’. A total understanding of how your partner(s) will react, compensate for your balance moves: certainty about their abilities and skills. It’s what we worked so hard to achieve.

But ‘M’ offers more. He speaks about the special thrill of working barefoot and ‘really connecting’ with your partner(s): their feet in your hands, in some simple move:

…or a confident firm stance, feet on your shoulders, in a more complex move:

So, apart from wanting more acrobatics in this blog generally, it is FEET that interest ‘M’. I’ve confessed to a foot fetish anyway, and something of it is explored in ‘M’s home city in The Power of Love where we performed – twice –  in a weird sex club (now fortunately no more) called ‘The Barefoot Club’. Going barefoot was compulsory for all the punters (both sexes, orientation depending on the night of the week) as a device to persuade them to shed more (and more) of their clothes as the evening’s ‘festivities’ and performances progressed… ’nuff said about that.

So. All activity between guys which can be barefoot and preferably shirt-free (or more!) would  surely fascinate ‘M’ just as it fascinates me, Dave and our friends. If acrobatics are involved, so much the better, but that’s not the only deal…

There’s an anticipation of things to come in the seated guy’s expression there. Definitely. Wrestling barefoot is fantastic fun too:

Guys these days respect foot hygeine well enough to make that contact with the feet enjoyable: judo players have always had that experience…

…whereas some guys prefer a more intimate experience with their partners:

OK, so that might not be everyone’s ‘cup of tea’, but there you go. For those that like that sort of thing, that is the sort of thing that they like! (Literary quote there, from ‘The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie’ – throw that in just to prove we’re not totally obsessed with acrobatics, feet and sex…).

OK, we can celebrate feet in other ways! …

…maybe some more pleasurable than others…

So, in the unlikely event that we would ever connect up, ‘M’s feet will be very welcome on our shoulders as we work on (or just play around with) some human towers, however “basic” and disorganised they start off…

…but I do hope that he finds some mates to have a go in his home city. And maybe some acrobatic moves too, so he can enjoy the comradeship of guys working together in the way he obviously dreams about. Go for it, ‘M’ – Live YOUR Dream! And I haven’t even mentioned glass walking and fire walking

 ‘Loving the Boy’

‘The Power of Love’

and, coming soon, the final part of the epic: ‘Against All Odds’

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
