A Day in the Life of…(2): Leon

Leon is one of our dearest friends, gay partner to Dane, and both of them wrestlers who are always ready to drive the miles south  from Lexington to join us at Chet’s gym or in our own training cabin. Unlike the rest of us, Leon and Dane have sensible jobs, although they did train up a bit in tumbling and acrobatics to join us on one tour – the fateful one which is detailed in Against All Odds.

Leon spends his days managing the maintenance of buses for Lexington Transit, which means that he can drive one of these new hybrid green jobbies:

Avid readers, if there are any, will remark that this is the third time I’ve posted a picture of a bus – first one from my UK hometown and one from Havana which a book reader sent me. Well, you can’t have too much a good thing, so here’s a slightly madder sample of Lexington’s finest public transportation:

It was pensioned-off older ones in that style which our Circus Extreme acquired for our own use on that final tour, with Leon organising the re-fitting with bunks and stuff.

Leon and Dane (who manages some aspects of construction sites) have an elegant downtown apartment, with a substantial part of their living space dedicated to weights and benches which are (like their whole apartment) insanely tidy.

Both of them coach at the thriving wrestling club in the city.

That club now also has an associated formal gym with good equipment, all for the benefit of the wrestling boys.

On Saturday nights, their club goes ‘gay’ at 9pm as all under 18’s are required to leave along with anyone who prefers not to tolerate gay behavior. The guys get their kit off and get the oil on… it is all in ‘The Power of Love’!

What? You still want pictures? Oh well…

And, as the witching hour approaches, the scenes get ever more intimate.

Leon and Dane eventually retire to their fabulously luxious bedroom, which we share when go up there because the bed is super king size. They are Tuan Jie  too, and we can all trust each other not to have ‘strayed’ outside the fold and potentially endangering their friends…

Going back to Against All Odds, Leon played a pivotal role in saving the life of one, perhaps two of our closest friends. We feel a special and lasting bond to this guy, who we first met in a distinctly seedy environment of a private house hosting a party at which we started as nude waiters, offered naked acrobatics and later wrestling, where Leon and Dane concealed their obvious nervousness to wrestle with us…

The gory details are in here, starting with Leon’s first words to me, addressing me by the name I had adopted to make some videos “Jamie” (erm, yeah) and not recognising myself by that name… red faces leading very swiftly to one of those great friendships that we hope will last for ever.

Thanks, Leon (and Dane) for all those fantastic things we’ve shared!

Now let’s share a couple of

Bonus Boys

…starting with three  of a guy with the same olive-skinned skin and muscle definition that Leon has:

…whereas Dane is more the chunky type, like this!

And one for bedtime, until the next time!

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
