Pain and Pleasure

Our plunge pool here in Wales was just 2C today (about 37F). I think that our newly found gay friends Tom and Iestyn found it rather painful but, as we pointed out, the pleasure comes later with the satisfaction that you did it!

Yes, we’re back at our Welsh ‘investment’ house for one more week before flying to Oak Ridge TN and taking up our normal routine. Snow all gone – so suddenly, in fact, that after sliding down the icy slopes in our truck when we left for Oxford on Wednesday, we found the track partly washed out with the snowmelt and a torrent racing across it when we returned on Saturday afternoon.

I have a ‘pain versus pleasure’ note too about our show in Oxford, which we gave with my old mate Colin and his wife Natasha. We padded out the acro we could perform without becoming totally knackered with some of our ‘fakir’ stuff (which is a hell of lot easier but looks tough and scary). Colin and ‘Tash took part in that too, as well as showing of their gymnastic skills alongside Dave and I. But we had an experience that’s never happened to us before, ever. It was Dave’s turn to throw our little pack of special darts with short points, and with little fizzy fireworks attached, into my back. We take turns on that one so as to keep our ‘good looks’! We’de already used the nail bed, and happily trampled a very game ‘Tash, clad in just a brief bikini costume, face down into a bed of broken glass. But as the first dart arrived at its target, a woman near the front screamed and fainted…

We weren’t quite sure what to do, because our pre-recorded music was trundling on, and everything would have got out of synch. So we ploughed on with it, laying Dave on to the four swords before he held me in a handstand and ‘Tash on his stomach in a headstand…

Yeah, the darts can be painful, but it’s that same feeling of self-satisfaction after that fuels us. And the girls in our full US ensemble, Karen and Clare, push hooks through their flesh without a second thought…

…and Dave was there after, backstage, to (literally) lick my wounds. We always do that. And we have a feeling that the Russian notion that urine is a good skin food and prevents damage may be true, so we (gulp) do use that remedy too…

So I hope the poor woman recovered. Anyway, we got a huge amount of applause. Colin and Natasha tried to refuse their half of the fee, but we weren’t having that. And we were really pleased that they had enjoyed themselves. Colin was my very first gym mate, long before I met Dave, and we’re both very fond of him and ‘Tash.

Anyway, we drove back to Wales Saturday. Tom and Iestyn had promised to greet us in our little cottage with a roaring fire and a good meal and, my goodness, they did us well. A night of pleasure seemed likely to be in store…

It didn’t take us long to get comfortable on the carpet in front of the fireplace, and definitely no-one needed clothes! We had a lot we could share, only direct coupling being taboo on both sides, except with our respective partners.

It’s like we’ve known each other years, yet we met only just over one week ago! Such great guys, well sporty enough to share our interest in keeping fit and looking good…

As they say, “there’s no gain without pain”, ,but the ‘burn’ followed by the satisfying dull ache the next day signifies a job well done, and the pleasure starts there as you start to recognise the improvement in your condition and muscle tone

So after a wonderful night, snug against the howling gale outside in a shared bed with each couple doing what they needed to do, we woke and sped quickly to the plunge pool. Just shorts and trainers, in case anyone was about, but naked in the water…

Tom looked a bit like this at first…

…but we soon warmed him up again…

…and then, back in our barn gym, the shorts soon came off…

the manly art

..and I’m sure, if we maintain this contact with Tom and Iestyn (and we will, because they’re already planning their vacation in Oak Ridge TN!), they’ll be starting their first lessons in acro…

…however basic (as well as enjoying our Tennessee climate and swimming in somewhat warmer water – but we’ll have them away from the pool and into the Clinch River in no time flat!).

Coming shortly: the denoument...One final  ‘pleasure after the pain’… I’m expecting the final printers proof of THIS (left), any day. And if you want to find out more about our gay love and our acrobatic career, with a couple of unwanted misadventures thrown in, then the first two parts of the tale are already out there, just waiting for you…

The adventure begins...Darker forces emerge...Regular readers will know that, after the commercial break, I usual offer (by way of fitness inspiration and just to entertain the gay male in general!) a couple of

Bonus Boys

Now he’s been working on his chest, shoulders, and especially ‘traps’. Near perfect?

No blemishes there, either. And, finally…

See you soon…

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
