Family Time

This morning, Dave, with Ivo and Pete, had to get up really early to prepare the gymnastics centre for a competition.

I was on duty late last evening and so didn’t have to go in today, so I’d arranged for my son Leo and his mum Clare to come over real early too for some training in our cabin. Clare’s partner Karen was away trucking, and her daughter (with Dave) Jaymee was on a sleepover. Warm but slightly drizzly this morning, so I ran a few circuits of the yard to get warmed up – shirtless of course – and was just opening the cabin when Leo arrived with Clare, having run from their place. Leo shirtless (also, “of course”) and barefoot too, as was his mum, in shorts and a bikini top. I often wonder what the neighbours make of them – since Clare includes firewalking in their act, not surprised her feet are like leather anyway!

We did some stretching together, then I worked on balance with Leo whilst Clare hit the weights. We train naked generally, and this was no exception. Leo and I spent about 30 minutes with me supporting him in assorted balance positions, mainly on one arm, so I was pretty sweaty and Clare too at the end of that. Leo then got his balance pedestals to do some more work, and Clare and I , proud parents with arms around each other’s shoulders, watched him. She turned until her sweaty breasts pressed against my equally sweaty chest, and her lips met mine in a loving and lingering kiss. Gay dad, lesbian mum… OK, it happened. ‘Tone, thank you, thank you,’ she whispered, looking adoringly at Leo. ‘I can never thank you enough, Tone…’

This one also in e-bookCover2 ThumbIf you would be interested to know two gay guys got it together with two lesbians, well, it’s all in these first two volumes – click on a cover! – available in e-book too – along with our acrobatic adventures and the first signs of, erm, trouble lying across our performance pathway.

I am so, so proud of Leo (Clare obviously is too) – especially of his inherited talent for acrobatics, in which he is certainly going to improve on his father’s modest efforts as he grows older!

The moment passed between Clare and I, and she reverted to type – ‘Let’s wrestle for a bit!’ – these are seriously fit lesbians, and fully engage in all the activities of the guys in the gym! She pulled me down on to the mats and my hands passed over the scars she bears on her back from doing hook suspensions as part of the ‘fakir’ performance. Rather her than me, I thought. It was not long before Leo threw himself on top, so that we had two naked parents and their naked son all rolling around in pools of their own sweat… we are, despite the homosexuality of the parents, a very loving family, in which strenuously heterosexual Leo plays a major part in our lives, to our great joy.

Anyway, it was time for Leo to be joined by his best friend Chris to do some weights, along with me and Chris’s older bodybuilder brother Billy. And, as it turned out, their father Steve, well used to our ways and getting back into fitness himself in view of his sons’ major interest in weight training. Clare opted out when they arrived, so the boys, by now all naked and unselfconscious as ever, knuckled down to some serious weight work, Billy on heavy weights and the rest of us on lighter weights with lots of repetitions, to ensure we retained our flexibility. Steve doesn’t feel entirely comfortable being naked with us, so I slipped on some shorts too.

It’s mainly free weights and benches in our cabin (the young ‘uns get to use Chad’s machines on weekdays after school hours), but we have plenty space and there’s no need to ‘lift’ in the shower as this guy seems to like!…

ok lift in the shower then!

We all enjoy ‘checking each other out’…

…but no mirrors in our cabin, after a serious accident involving Ivo who crashed into one when wrestling and nearly severed an artery in his leg…

Bodyweight exercises are great too…

…and it all helps so that, when the young un’s do get into Chad’s, they can use the machines to work on that extra definition…

…but, being in the main gym doesn’t stop you using free weights as well…

Meanwhile Leo practices hard with his balance too… and takes every opportunity to learn from older colleagues how to get things really steady…

And, after all that effort, we took ourselves off to the Clinch River and had some fun…

…except that, in our case, we used Cody’s secluded swimming hole where shorts are not needed…

I like this next ‘river’ pic, although I’m bothered by the arm coming up out of the water which is his reflection – and yet it is above the water…

and, finally...Anyway, to conclude this ‘family’ theme, I’ve written in this final book a sort of summary of the families we share – in addition to the parent/child thing that both Dave and I enjoy, there is the caring sharing ‘family’ of gay guys committed to enjoy safe sex by never exploring outside the circle, and the wider community at Chad’s gym which is also a kind of loving ‘family’… as well as our birth families, of course… kind of secure and frankly idyllic most of the time, which led one e-mail correspondent to question me ‘Are You Real?’ in a recent e-mail. I replied that I most certainly am real, and that pretty much what you read in the books is accurate, although I was persuaded not to write the books like a diary and, as a result, there has been some ‘artistic licence’. Hopefully a better tale as a result! Maybe I’ll expand on that mail in a future post.

Overall, as a gay guy in a committed relationship with Dave, but able to share in a wider circle, I certainly feel blessed. And, at the end of the day, there is always that special moment with him, for which I give especial thanks for the way in which fate arranged for both of our families to be migrated to Oak Ridge TN from the UK at the same time, and for Dave and I to discover that special kind of love which gay guys can have for one another…

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
