Let’s Reflect…

For a change, a post of pictures with a different theme, starting with one which, for me, is an absolutely brilliant idea by the photographer – and what a boy to pose it…

Now how would you title that? ‘Boy Gazing at His Own Reflection’ hardly does it justice. And note how clean the mirror is – not a footprint or handprint to spoil the effect – just as if he was lowered into position… Brilliant.

The next use of the mirror is – well – ‘darker’…

How cunningly here the photographer ensures that the reflection ‘fits’ the background through the window! I wonder how long that took…

Apart from the obviously well-muscled shoulders, we can’t see very much of the boy but, in this instance, I’m not too bothered!

The next category is ‘lifts and cloakrooms’…

…making good use of the opportunities for multiple reflections. And this case, a bit of discreet showing off… there’s a fair bit of that out there on the net.

The mirrors which are often present in gyms so that the guys can size up their progress can often reveal what else is going on behind the photographer: in this next case, not much! The boy has obviously been sweating it out though…

…whilst gym camboys can make use of the mirrors, of course…

…he’s rightly proud of his chest  development.

Camboys using a mirror can often make a feature of it in their compositions..

A fine set of abs (but work a little on the chest, dude).

If the camera is in the pic, then the mirror is a dead ‘cert’… and this guy is certainly well ‘cert’-ified, although in exactly what I can’t make out – I’m guessing a martial art, but maybe someone who can read the cyrillic words and translate them can help us?…

well certified

The next one uses a partial reflection to stress precisely what the guy is rightly proud of…

I would guess that the rest of him is worth being proud of too!

Eventually, we end up in the bathroom:

There are so many pictures out there with a foreground of pill bottles and lotions, toilet rolls (and worse…) – but then I suppose these days guys are most likely to have their tops off in the bathroom and, of course, the phone is always to hand…

If not the bathroom, it is often the locker room (another wowzer)…

Or the home gym itself:

Just one more for today: no mirror, but a lot of self reflection perhaps. ‘How the ***** did I let myself get into this…?’

Every once in a while I ‘reflect’ on how I got into writing this blog. I guess it was because I wrote three books, and the publisher dude recommended it. Oh well. Here goes, then:

Loving the Boy: ISBN 978-1-907732-30-0

The Power of Love: ISBN 978-1-907732-41-6

Against All Odds: ISBN 978-1-908645-35-7

Quite a bit of personal navel gazing in those. And a lot of fun too, if you’re into gay love and sports. And occasionally seeing the wrong end of a gun…

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
