Fun and Games in Pocatello

A free day Saturday in our gym coach ‘re-training’ course here in Idaho, so my straight roomie Charlie and I decided to take advantage of an offer to use the University of Idaho weight room here in Pocatello. Two other guys, including the one other guy on the course I suspected might be gay, came along and we had a really great and sweaty session after a warm-up run.

We do, all four of us, try to maintain some good ‘gymnastic’ bodies (although I’m the only one that performs professionally) – like these guys…

…and we want to continue to give a good impression of fitness, both when coaching and when ‘off duty’…

Charlie and I, having made a great exhibition of our bodies in front of the rest of the class during the massage training sessions , never intended to wear a shirt for the weights session anyway, and the other two quickly followed our example – with a glint in the eye of the ‘suspect gay’ (let’s call him Kallen; he’s from nearby Idaho Falls). All four of us returned to our room to share a cool drink or two, and no-one needed to wear a shirt to walk down the street to get there since the temperature outside was by now pushing 90F… and that just added to the sweat running down our bodies…

We chucked some towels over our furniture before we chilled out, the talked turned quickly to sports, and Kallen revealed that he had been a wrestler in high school. Charlie then mentioned that he and I had enjoyed a session on the floor of our room, and that I favoured the ‘no-holds-barred submission’ style…

…and we all four of us got to trying out a few holds on the floor, including a couple that aren’t in the book but which obviously pleased Kallen:

Charlie, being a mischievous dude, then cautioned ‘Careful, Kallen, you know he likes wrestling naked, don’t you!’ Kallen’s eyes didn’t exactly light up, but when I said ‘Want to give it a go, then?’ he had his shorts and underwear off faster than me…

Mycles 3…No, I didn’t have anyone take pictures, but the one on the left gives a flavour I guess, and eventually all four of us were enjoying ourselves with what little energy we had left. It wasn’t a very challenging session really, but I did get a submission out of Kallen with three simultaneous holds which, again, aren’t really in the rule book: face sitting him, ball grabbing and biting the side of his foot – but, then, there isn’t really a rule book anyways.

And, at the end, all four of us, straights and gays together, ‘relieved our stresses’ in a typical all-males-together fashion…

Just to set the record straight, my fantastic partner back in Oak Rdge TN, Dave, knows all. He and I have been exchanging plenty of texts and calls, and he tells me that the usual ‘fun and games’ within the Tuan Jie group and in the private Man.Power gym have been just as adventurous as usual…

Special Offer…you can read all about our carryings-on here, both in paper form or e-book from “the usual outlets”. A bit of adventure, too, spicing up our lives. In the third book, Against All Odds, I record my previous visit to Idaho, when we took some time out in the middle of our fateful (and never-completed) tour to visit Yellowstone, Idaho Falls, The ‘Craters of the Moon’ lava fields, and a bit of hiking north-east of Boise to give our dear colleague Zach a chance to get over some very disturbing events. Seems strange to be here in Idaho again without having to keep looking over our shoulders…

Anyway, back to the present! As ever, we celebrate the results of hard training, both in the weight room and in the gymnastics centres, with some suitable images:

I need to apologise for the gap in posting: we had an internet access issue here in our lodging in Pocatello which is now resolved. Here’s a few additional pictures to make up for it…

Cover1 Thumb…which brings us sort of full circle back to our underpants, which has been the normal attire for Charlie and I in our somewhat warm apartment (the air con isn’t any better than the internet connection!). After the wrestle session, we’ve taken to not wearing anything when we’re there on our own…

…and Kallen keeps thinking of reasons to suggest meeting up. I don’t think he likes his roomie very much anyway, although the guy was a good sport when naked on the floor earlier today!

Don’t worry, Dave, our bond and code of conduct is as strong as it always is…

Cover2 Thumband, finally...Back in the gym tomorrow for classes again. And Kallen has passed me a most interesting local newspaper, coincidentally full of gay stuff. In Idaho Falls no less. I’m going to share some of the stories with you in the next post.

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
