A Crazy Country

Oak Ridge, TN. Home of the US National Lab (ORNL) where a lot of the preparatory work for the 1945 atom bombs was carried out, and now the employer of about half of this city. CLOSING at the end of the month because of the government shut down! There’s no money to pay anyone. Dave’s dad, who retires from there at the end of this year anyway, is thinking of chucking in the towel early!

I have a question. If the US government has no money unless it borrows more, how is it every going to pay the loans back? Answer seems to be, borrow even more next time to pay the previous loans (and interest) back.

What alarms me even more is that many national governments seem to be in the same financial situation, except that they don’t shut down and everyone carries on getting paid! Somehow! What I hadn’t realised, until someone in the gym explained it to me, is that the money NEVER EXISTED IN THE FIRST PLACE! There is only a tiny fraction of the ‘money’ in the world which actually exists as notes, coins, or even gold…

Dave and I thought we had money. But when we bought our little investment cottage in Wales UK, we never actually SAW the money we paid over in US dollars to someone who received British pounds. Perhaps that never existed either.

Oh well, even if we don’t have money, we have each other!

Cover1 ThumbCover2 Thumband, finally...I do have a pile of unsold books… maybe we could convert those into money! You could help!!! Click on the covers. E-books also available from the usual outlets – and that’s interesting, too, because only one of those exists until someone actually downloads a copy – maybe that’s how the US government could sort out its financial problems – just download some more dollars…

..don’t be silly, Tone!

Well, the one currency we do all feel we understand is fitness and physical skills. Let’s enjoy what most readers of this blog arrive here for – the well-developed male form.

Abs, pecs, shoulders… just about everything perfect there. The next one does need a little more work on pecs, I think:

Here’s the place to put that right for him:

Musicians do it too…

Showing off in the open…

…in fact, why not do your training in the open?

…and maybe a cooling dip when you’re done?

‘Money makes the world go around’ according to the MC in ‘Cabaret’. Well, if that’s the case, please send some to the US government. Just because the Republicans don’t like Obamacare, they seem ready to wreck the economy and the country. Perhaps they should get out more. Go for a run? Hit the gym? Go chill in the countryside? Seems clear that, whatever they DO do in Washington DC, they could do with some therapy! Get fit, guys (and girls)! And then get REAL…

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
