A gymnast pondering the options! (He’s called Esteban and we think he’s rather cute!). Of course, following Dave’s dad’s decision to return to UK after a little over 13 years, and with me living in the same house for the last 12 years, it is time for some big decisions. Time to get things straight in our minds – do we stay (USA) or do we go back to UK? Or do we try to do both, with regular commuting?
We’re gymnasts, morphing more and more into coaching and less and less into performing our acrobatic and fakir routines (old age creeping on!!)… it’s a great sport…
…but none of what we do really earns as much dosh as we would like! We have qualifications which should work in the UK BUT… if we decided to live in the house we own, in wild Wales, it’s a long way from any city where a good gym might employ us. And we need a weights gym too… there’s absolutely no substitute possible for Chad’s gay-friendly emporium, but we’re starting to build up our own one in Wales, in the barn. Can’t do without our weights…
Some apparatus too:
We will both have responsibilities in UK coming up (parents growing older). Pete (Dave’s brother) will definitely stay in Tennessee with his partner Ivo – they’re basically running the local gymnastics center and making a great job of it – and Ivo would never leave USA.
We have responsibilities in US too: two kids! Their mum’s would never move to UK – but the kids have dual nationality so could go to school (and later work) in either place. But they’re in Junior High already and it would be dreadful to move them out and away from their mums.
Oh dear. Still – everyone involved is going to Wales for Christmas so we can have a real good think!
Need to take our minds off the problem, I think:
Another thinker (maybe…):
…and what about this guy?
We’re going to have to weigh our options very carefully in the next few weeks. So many fantastic mates over here in US we wouldn’t want to leave… but… at the core, we’re Brits! ‘Where would you prefer to die?’ Dave asked me last night in bed – ghastly thought, but I see where he’s going with that question. No idea how to answer that.
Probably time to get out the easing oil and fettle up our brain cells for some serious thought:
Anyway, as Dave also put it to me, ‘Don’t let’s bother ’em with the problem – we’ll just tell ’em the solution when we’ve got one!’ – and I think he has that right, at least.
We’ll let Esteban have the last slot tonight, I think (but he’s still pondering, by the look of him!) – cheer up, dude!
