Sunny Side Up

big-sunbedOur amazingly ripped and sun-worshipping friend Carlos has one of these in his apartment. To be honest, he has little else apart from his weights – just a table, a chair and a mattress on the floor. He’s lived like that for ten years since finding Chad’s gym, where he spends the rest of his time (when he’s not sunning himself on a roof, fixing it – since that’s his actual job, apart from modelling!).

With the demise of the sunny weather in Tennessee (it’s sunny sometimes, but getting real cold this week!), we’ve missed out on ‘real’ sun tanning for a while. OK, I know there’s a debate about it – see an ancient post here – but we can hardly perform shirtless as we need to do for acrobatics with pasty white skin. And we needed to work on our tan lines – that’s get rid of them – ready for a special event tonight, so we’ve been over to Carlos’s place two or three times recently.

Waterstone's Piccadilly 2And Carlos – amazingly – is involved! In my first two books I describe two visits we made to an event organised by someone I perhaps rather unkindly called ‘The Queen’ – although he revelled in the description and acted out the role admirably. Wealthy, effeminate, overweight and seriously gay, he hosted dinner parties for his gay and lesbian friends, with ‘entertainment’. And, now and again, we provide the entertainment.

Cedric is now wheelchair bound, but no less an enthusiastic host, and has booked us – again – for Sunday night. This involves six of us from Oak Ridge – Dave and I, Ethan and Jack, Zach – and Carlos. Zach’s partner Gary is away at some major martial arts thing; Pete and Ivo didn’t want to do it this time. The place is just over the Kentucky state line, and Leon and Dane will come down from Lexington to meet us there, so we will be eight ‘performers’.

The first time was real scary. We were asked to be waiters for the welcome drinks for his guests, give a show, and then do some exhibition wrestling. Fine. Except that the first and last we were asked to do naked. Nude wrestling: well, we do that all the time anyway, at least for ourselves: it was the first time in front of an audience. Nude waiters – well, I was pretty crap at that, for a start! The waiting bit, anyway. Well, I guess we’ve got used to that now and, bless him, Carlos will have to “appear” in public with us – like, naked. Unlike the rest of us, he has never declared his sexuality, and frankly shows little interest except to share his training enthusiasms with us. But he volunteered!! And they’ll love his amazing body…

The show will be the usual acrobatics, some of it done with the bases on our beds of nails and glass – Carlos is OK with that, if not the more tricky balances, but we have worked him into the routines and he’s loving it. And he’s not short on strength, that’s for sure.

Carlos can perfectly well achieve this kind of thing, for example:

And, as for the wrestling, well, he’s had plenty of practice:

I suppose that all of this sounds just a little sordid. ‘You should be ashamed of yourselves, especially at your age…’ – I can just hear people saying that. Well, I guess so, but Cedric pays well and his guests tip exceedingly well. In fact, Leon and Dane, dedicated wrestlers themselves, we met at Cedric’s the first time around – and had them join in the wrestling! Now they’re part of our inner circle of Tuan Jie loving gay guys, and they toured with us on the fateful trip that my third book follows…

So, we’ll have a bit of fun tonight I guess. He puts us all up for the night, too – and rather palatial accommodation and food.

Then we’ll be into training, with the girls and the kids involved too, for some daytime shows in shopping malls in the run-up to Christmas. Definitely no naked wrestling there! The malls pay quite well too…

OK, enough about us. Let’s enjoy our usual gallery of  fit young males for tonight:

Being Brits, we rather approve of this next one…

And a reminder of summer…

And that’s it for now: our stuff is in Zach’s truck and we need to get in the car and head north, for our evening’s “assignment”…

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
