Made It! Never Mind the Gales and Floods…

Wow, the weather in UK is FOUL. Winds up to 87 mph, floods everywhere – but we made it to  our place in Wales – eventually. That’s the adults – Dave and I, and the girls. Kids left in Oxford for one more day, spent with grandparents (including Dave’s dad) and with Colin’s family. We took the high-speed train to Swansea from nearby Didcot station, but it was slowed by fallen trees, floods… and then the game little diesel railcar on the Heart of Wales nearly faltered in the floods at Llandeilo – but we made it, to be welcomed at our request stop (!) by Neil our houseboy in one car and gay friends Tom and Iestyn in another. And so we are, once again, in Cefn Derwen, so welcomingly warm  with log fire blazing thanks to our wonderful friends (we do pay them!).

This is going to be our one ‘gay adults only’ evening: two male couples and one lesbian couple – do I need to go further? Probably not. We all enjoy ‘playing’ in front of that log fire…

No obvious gale damage this far, and our barn has been lovingly upgraded with a sort of bunkhouse area (and more weights) by Neil (marathon runner, straight weights freak) and his farming mates. Couldn’t ask for nicer folk here.

Cover1 ThumbCover2 ThumbCover 3 Thumb(New readers start here department..)Cefn Derwen is a Welsh farmhouse that was used as a holiday home for my family for years, and is where our friends Zach and Gary were forced to hide out (see ‘Against All Odds’) at the end of our misadventures. Later, Dave and I were able to buy it as an investment, and I finished the final draft of that book here a couple of years ago. So, although I said at the end of that trilogy that Oak Ridge in TN was ‘home’, this Welsh ‘Oak Ridge’ is definitely ‘home’ too.

So, here we are, hatches battened down against the next storm! Definitely no swimming in the river right now – it is RAGING. Parents and kids arrive tomorrow by car for Christmas Day; on Boxing Day Dave, Jaymee and his Dad will leave for Cumbria for a few days via Oxford again with my parents, whilst son Leo’s great buddy Ollie, his sister and their parents will arrive. And all along, our dear gay couple Tom and Iestyn will be helping out. They are squash fanatics and train in our barn alongside all the young farmers, so it is going to be interesting.

Lots of comparisons… going to be fun:

The young boys have been comparing their ‘guns’ via Skype all the time…

Leo and Ollie aren’t exactly sporting those hairy armpits as yet – too young! – although both boys (and their mate Chris back in TN want to emulate Chris’s older bodybuilding brother…

andriy kostash UA 3

That’s a young Ukrainian lad called Andriy Kostash, by the way: but our boys know they need to keep their flexibility for acrobatics and stuff, and huge muscles at their tender age are not the answer. And, like our good selves, they aspire to this, too:

That comes with hundreds of hours of practice – and they know it. Starting here helps a lot (but preferably without the injuries!):

assorted injuries -Latvia

They know they need to dedicate a lot of time to basic flexibility exercises:

After being ill for two weeks, I have some way to go to rehabilitate myself, and get back to something like this:

I’ll be checking myself out in the mirror, to see where the muscle has wasted (don’t we all do that in the gym, like this guy?);

But that can start tomorrow. Tonight, it’s definitely ‘shirts off (and more!) in front of the fire’ time!

He has to get that shirt off soon enough! We’re three uninhibited gay couples, there’s going to be some wrestling in front of that fire for sure (girls included – read the books!)… and then each couple to a different corner of the cosy sitting room…

…and then bed…

– don’t see it likely that we’ll still have shorts on though…

And I suppose we have to look forward to Christmas…

christmas boy 2013 3

Don’t you just hate it when all the pictures on your favourite sites start to feature Christmas hats and lights…..

Bah Humbug, everyone – but have a great night tonight and every night with those you love.

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
