Weekend Wrestle Trip

I wrote that Dave is away this coming weekend and, coincidentally, so is Dane, partner of Leon our wrestling mates and Tuan Jie confederates up in Lexington KY. Dane is off on some construction company thing, so Leon suggested that I take the boys (son Leo and his best mate Chris) up there to their wrestle club. Sorry about the ‘n‘ issue in the names Dave/Dane and Leo/Leon – just how it is, I’m afraid!

Chris’s parents say ‘great’, so we’ll be off up there (about 100 miles or so) Friday evening: the boys (and indeed, I) get a days wrestling tuition with assorted excellent coaches, and they usually train in just speedos and barefoot for all the styles, so that’ll suit just fine.

We can’t do the sand in Lexington, but their club is great and, for historical reasons documented in The Power of Love, I’m a member (along with Dave, Zach and Gary). In the evening, with the boys safely tucked up in bed in Leon’s spare room under the watchful gaze of his sister, who lives in the same building, he and I will return to the club Saturday night for their once-a-week ‘gay anything-goes’ session which will last until the small hours. Then it’ll be back to the apartment for a second night spent with Leon (as Tuan Jie’s we have the blessing of our partners to share the love around).

Then, on Sunday morning, I imagine we’ll all four be stripped off and hitting the weights which Leon and Dane have installed in a quarter of their huge bedroom – complete with rubber floor, shiny chrome-plated weights and a range of benches.

…followed by Sunday lunch at Leon’s favourite restaurant in Lexington.

Cover 3 ThumbLeon and Dane actually toured with us a couple of times, both as drivers of our camping buses and as sturdy performers for fakir work and balance bases. That first tour with them went horribly wrong, but it was Leon’s quick thinking which made a huge difference, ultimately, to saving the day. All in ‘Against All Odds’.  So Leon and Dane are very special to us.

Leon has spent thousands of hours crafting and maintaining a fantastically ripped body, all to Dane’s specification!

Dane is ‘chunkier’, at Leon’s behest.

Amazing guys. I must say that I am already anticipating the feel of the power of Leon’s muscle against mine, and my tongue anticipating the taste of his sweat… and the young ‘uns are going to get a great time too, testing themselves against a whole range of new opponents.

Fitness Rules, OK?

Young friends who train together and support one another achieve great results:

That’s true for our acro work, too:

…and (especially for those of us gays and adults) chilling out together is great, too!

Indeed, for any age, persuasion…

I just want to make one thing clear, to avoid any funny questions in people’s minds. Leo and Chris are twelve years old, one the son of gay parents and one of straight. They may be going on a trip with two gay guys but, rest assured, they are both (a) as straight as they come, discussing girls endlessly, and (b) are never involved, nor exposed to , any of the gay activities of ourselves or our gay friends. Just saying, OK?

And, having got that off my chest, we’ll enjoy a few more inspirational pictures of fit young men!

Showing off the results! And why not?

Hope your forthcoming weekend is as good as I think ours will be…

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
