Another Late Night: The Darker Side…

homo manual

Now there’s a useful book. Only 15 cents (I think that’s what it says)! If only I could afford to sell mine so cheaply! But money needs to be made…

…I wonder if you can still buy them today, especially in the ‘Bible Belt’…

Hmm; where to begin? the first time I ever went to Cody’s place, I got knives thrown at me (see Loving the Boy). I had entered the gay community of which Cody was a part, but was not yet aware that I was gay myself, although it was beginning to dawn on me. Cody, a guy with private income who lives in a ramshackle place near the Clinch River with his housemate Adge, is, in reality, the kindest and most caring person you could ever wish to meet and, very shortly afterwards, was mentoring Dave and I against some minor adversities without us being aware of it until much later (The Power of Love).

Anyway, Cody spends his time when he’s not keeping in shape at Chad’s private gym roaming around the more-or-less deserted woodland which surrounds his house in a somewhat feral manner, and has built up a “business” providing S&M entertainment for occasional visiting groups of men who, erm, like that sort of thing. A basement of ‘fun’ so to speak.

A group which arrived on Friday night had requested more than the usual stuff, and so Dave and I with Pete and Ivo were duly asked to provide an acrobatic and endurance entertainment in Cody’s barn – the place we have occasionally staged final rehearsals for Circus shows in the past. This we duly did, including Ivo’s hair hanging and Dave and I exercising our teeth holds from the trapeze, not to mention the usual nail beds, glass and darts (my turn to receive them). And, with the nature of the audience, we performed as we generally train – naked… then Pete and Ivo staged some exhibition wrestling with Cody and Adge under the stars…

…the groups got bigger, and wetter…

Then the visitors repaired to the basement where Dave and I had agreed to be bound, beaten, clamped and waxed ahead of the rest of the visiting group taking their turns… ahem. Bad boys, and definitely not an evening to share with the kids!

Pete and Ivo had already gone home. Dave and I left as soon as we could get away, and decided to sooth our aching bodies in the Clinch River, the moon now having come out.

I confess we then made love under the stars, before legging it back to our car and driving home. And then we slept well. Very well.

On Saturday mid-morning we drove in to the gymnastics center to do our coaching thing, thinking that, maybe, our lives were a bit topsy-turvy…

…a bit insane…

I don’t think I would do this exhibitionist stuff if I were on my own, but when your partner backs you up, I guess it is a bit different. It takes two to tango…

…sometimes, four! Oh, I guess I’m just a bad boy at heart (and ageing fast!!). But we won’t – ever, ever – let this stuff mix with our duty to our kids.

Let’s think about something else now. Getting and keeping in shape. Which we do:

I guess it is all about balance, then. Balancing the things we do, good and bad… maybe my euphoria driving home in the moonlight earlier this week really is ‘in balance’ with my slight feelings of guilt about our behaviour on Friday night. Let’s hope so! Better than being all twisted up…

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
