All Backs and Biceps

‘It’s my back day!’ said visiting sports wunderkind Ollie importantly, waking us yet again to make space for him and my son to train weights in our cabin. We’re exiled there to sleep (six of us altogether) because of the house full of guests.

Actually we now have all four boys training each morning now Christmas is over: my son Leo, his mates Chris and Ryan, and the British Ollie over here on vacation with his family. And, of course, we’re joining them. It’s fun. “All guys together” always is…

It must be weird for Dave’s dad, who owned this place for 13 years, now owned by the girls with the rest of us having ‘shares’ – and him currently ‘bunking’ in my son’s recently constructed slime-coloured basement bedroom! Then there’s my mum, going on and on about how she hated her (much shorter) time here… so much looking back. So ‘backs’, bulked up with a few biceps, will be today’s pictures theme. Sometimes, both…

MCover 3 Thumbind you, there is some looking forward too. Dave’s mum Cathy left the family when he was six: reconciled with him (sort of) when he was eighteen, reunited briefly with his dad during their anxiety for us (it’s in my book Against All Odds) and, for the last year, living very near to one another in Cumbria (UK). There’ve been a lot of hints that some kind of announcement might be forthcoming at New Year… we’ll see!

Lovely deltoid development with that guy, as well as the bicep.

Breakfast! Actually, barefoot and shirtless in the house is our normal style, but somehow we’re all feeling a bit inhibited with two sets of parents on board… and with some Christmas-present tee-shirts to wear. Oh well.

Cover1 ThumbCover2 ThumbBy the way, there are two earlier books featuring our beloved sports of acrobatics and weights, finding gay love, and having adventures. e-versions are available.

Here’s three dudes showing off their impressive ‘spreads’:

How it’s done: pull downs…

Another way – the all-important bar pull-up exercises:

…perfect for backs and biceps. Good all-round muscle moulding… triceps and forearms too…

Emphasising the deltoids again:

A few on biceps and training them, then, to finish off for today:

Here’s hoping you’ll all ‘put your backs into’ some training in 2015!

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
