Wrestling with the WiFi

999 wrestle

Being ‘on the road’ with the circus has its drawbacks, and one of the most frustrating in this day and age is finding public WiFi when you are spending most of the day with your only transport parked in the middle of a field… and then getting it to work!

You are seeing this only because I finally found success!

It decided me on the theme of wrestling (and related) pics for this post, so here goes, starting with the younger generation, not in collegiate mode either!…

Neat leg lock by the top guy on the other’s left foot!

More locker-room horseplay than wrestling there, but they are wrestlers. And now we up the age a bit:

four wrestlers

…ooh – a little ‘naughty’ one there… but nice!

Now looking to the strength training we need for wrestling:

…well, I suppose that’s one way of adding a bit of extra resistance… this is probably safer…

Cables. Always a good one. Don’t stop the training just because it’s dark…

Rowing machines are great trainers for the back, shoulders and arms…

And the same guy doing the ‘kneeling row’ exercise…

As I always say, train with a partner (or more) both to help and to encourage…

…but then, wrestling itself would be pretty difficult on your own I suppose! (Hint: think about the right hand!)

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
