Oxford 2, Oak Ridge 2, Cumbria 1

A wet and windy weekend for all, and no sign of a let up here in UK as yet! Leo, Chris, Ollie and Alex all camping at the lakeside with Ollie’s dad Colin, Jaymee with me at her grandparents in Keswick.

All kids in training – I was sent pictures of four happy barechested and barefoot boys wrestling and swimming in the drizzle, and hear they set themselves a few challenges like “1000 sit-ups before bedtime” (good for them!) as well as the usual wrestling and acrobatic stuff. Honours equal all round, of course. Wales next week, where they can really go feral, skinny dipping and so forth…

Grandparents demanding to see Jaymee’s latest acrobatic skills so I had to participate as well, in support… so I guess we’re in training too. Colin’s wife Natasha will join us all in Cefn Derwen, with Colin at he weekends, so “sport for all” is highly likely!

Time for a few ‘pike’ pull-ups?

We’re in demand too to meet up with various local ‘readers’ of the blog – throw off our ‘invisibility cloaks’ of anonymity!! – well, we’ll try, but goodness knows how we can fit it all in as we have very limited time this trip. We’ll see. And the last thing we want to think about at the moment is giving ‘shows’ – this is a vacation! So maybe you’ll just have to stick with the posts and the books for news of all that stuff!

Loving the Boy: ISBN 978-1-907732-30-0

The Power of Love: ISBN 978-1-907732-41-6

Against All Odds: ISBN 978-1-908645-35-7

Of course, “the fit” only stay “fit” if they keep up their training – hence the four boys’ challenges and encouragement of each other (“no-body leaves until everyone’s finished their 100 press-ups” – etc.).

And so it should be – every fitness opportunity is helping to keep everyone strong and healthy!

red pads

The regular weights sessions for general strength, and for looking good for shows…

chest flex 3

…not sure if that’s a horrible hairdo, or the result of sweat… this is definitely sweat…

cardio sweat

…the result of a good run, although I hate running machines – why not just go outside, wind (and rain!) on your chest, feeling good? This is sweat again, though…

Bit of wrestle, now and again (Natasha is still keen to wrestle, I hear (see the books!!!))…

Jeans off, guys?

Nice session on the parallel bars?…

rings briefs

And then show off the results! A touch of body oil helps with the highlights…

shiny briefs

So there we are. Keeping fit ready to run wild in Wales for a week (while I size up the inevitable repairs that the house will need since I last saw it – arrrgh!).

UK schools are out next week so, anyone starting their vacations, have fun!

About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...
