On The Level

Two new sets posted today. On the second Fitness Etc. page (https://tonycavanagh.com/fitness-acrobatics-and-gymnastics-2/) we have a short celebration of guys holding various planches. On the Gay Expression page (https://tonycavanagh.com/gay-expression/), some musings about when guys are together in various situations, should or should not one assume they are gay. Take a look at both and see what you think.

Check out “history of nude male swimming in America” on a search engine and you will find a lot of info on the subject, including photos of boys and men being photographed for general publication swimming naked. The tumblr “Boys Swim Nude” has a much-published series of LIFE magazine covers of nude swimmers (naval recruits in this instance, if memory serves) as well as YMCA photos, among newspaper clippings of stories about nude swimming in high school. Believe it or not, high schools used to include full frontal nude photos of their boys’ swim team in action in their yearbooks! The information and photos are plentiful. My high school discontinued the practice in 1976, but Chicago required nakedness until 1980 for boys. All the photos were legally published (LIFE magazine is hardly a porn mag.) and even the official magazine of the Boy Scouts of America would occasionally publish a naked boy on its cover. Imagine if High Schools today published photos of their boys swim team naked head to toe today!

Indeed! And on current data, only ~7% of them would have been gay. I rest my case that liking to train naked doesn’t signify anything else.
