About tonycavanagh

Born Northampton UK; school Oxford UK and Oak Ridge Tennessee, where I met my wonderful partner Dave, also from UK. Oak Ridge is our main training base for acrobatics and circus stuff, but we also established a base in Wales (UK) to serve us when we are working in Europe. Our 'story', of finding gay love, learning the acrobatics trade and then of how we got shot at during our show (and worse was to follow - just to prove that the risks of being an acrobat are not always the most obvious ones!) are now available in my three books 'Loving the Boy', 'The Power of Love' and 'Against All Odds'. Links available on most blog posts. Actually, waiting for the imminent arrival of the first printed copies was far scarier than anything we do in performance. A fourth book - not about us but exploring the sadness of a gay Native American boy denied his true identity - is currently with an agent for evaluation. watch for 'Let The Future Find Me' in due time. And now to book five... another boy, another quest... seems its always boys...

Can’t quite make that image out. Guess the actual temperature…! Try another: Now that’s definitely an ice bath. Maybe not for the faint-hearted. However, some of Nordic/Russian guests have been complaining that there is no snow here in the Algarve … Continue reading

Research (2): Sexuality and Genes

They say ‘its all the genes’ or, alternatively (and especially if you are trying to convince someone of a religious persuasion) “God made me gay just like he made you straight…so live with it!” But maybe, according to a newspaper … Continue reading

Research: ‘The Sweat Spectrum’

The recent competitive bodybuilding event we staged here, and the ‘awards’ which followed (see previous post!) put me in mind of some thoughts on sweating (! – if that’s not a turn off…). I have sometimes been puzzled by why … Continue reading

“Beef not Cooked in Rind of Bacon (5)”

Aha – a crossword clue for you. Here’s a pictorial clue for you as well: Got it? The clue is the boy, not the newspaper. ‘Rind of Bacon’ means the edges – i.e. the outside letters ‘R’ and ‘B’. ‘Uncooked’ … Continue reading

Negotiating on All Fronts!

I’m beginning to understand how it is so difficult to get UN resolutions agreed! As I mentioned in the previous post, we are in discussions with the management here in Portugal (at least three different nationalities including Russian and Swedish … Continue reading

YES! Finally, yesterday afternoon and evening, the rains came to the eastern Algarve. Apart from one drizzly morning, it’s been a while. Since the early summer in fact. OK, they’ve gone again, and the sun is shining brightly through patchy … Continue reading
